East Coast Port Impacts Begin – Hurricane Florence

Hurricane season is upon us.

As Hurricane Florence quickly approaches, landfall is expected to happen Thursday. Current tracks and estimates place it making landfall around Wilmington, NC. This will cause great affect on surrounding coastal areas including Charleston and Norfolk.

South Carolina Governor Henry McMaster has just declared a mandatory evacutation. All highway lanes in/out of Charleston will be directed for outbound traffic only. Truckers are already advising that due to this announcement, all containers in their possession will be returned to port immediately without delivery and will be pending pick up and delivery after the storm has passed.

The Port of Wilmington and NC Port Authority is also closely monitoring the storm. Further updates and port closures will be announced as received.
